Joi WE ARE THREE

track by track
Haroon's recordings, made in early 1999 in Bangladesh with local musicians, provide the backbone of every track on WE ARE THREE.  Here, Farook talks about each track -
Journey

The whole album should be listened to in one sitting, as it takes the form of a journey.  This opening track captures all the sounds Haroon experienced travelling in a rickshaw in Bangladesh from Bohor Pur to Syhlet.

Prem

This means Love in Bengali, and, in particular is about someone loving you.  The vocals were recorded by a beautiful 14-year-old girl when Haroon went over to Bangladesh.  Because she was under sixteen, her father had to sign a release form - but, as he couldn't write, he used his fingerprint.

Don't Cha Know That

This is quite an old track - the vocals were recorded by Haroon and myself about six years ago.  It's a good upbeat, dance floor track.

The Holy Side

The Holy Side represents an altered state of mind, and is about taking it to another dimension through the power of chanting.

Deep Asian Vibes

A successor to Asian Vibes, and a wickedly funky house track with Asian vocals.  It's deep, clubby, not too moody - it's the spirit of Joi, it's what we're all about.

Triatma

Triatma means three souls in Bengali, we are three, it's about a coming together, it's about spirituality.

Flying With You

This is a slow, mellow dub ragga track, about the existence of some spirit up there.  It's about taking a step back, and looking at your life objectively.

We Need Your Vote

This closes the album, and is a plea from Joi to support us in what we do - it says sign here if you believe in us coming together.
