Pina is among the most distinctive new singer-songwriters to emerge in years. With a fresh, often confessional writing style, she's turned out an arsenal of original music - from dark, brooking, anthemic songs to confessional ballads of wrenching vulnerability - that deftly blend alternative rock, gothic folk, and psychedelic almost-country...and really bedevil categorization.
First heard on Afro Celt Sound System's Grammy-nominated VOLUME 3: FURTHER IN TIME in the poignant duet Go On Through, her distinctively feline, husky voice rings with passion and intensity - and caught the ear of Peter Gabriel when the Afro Celts first played him their album-in-progress. It was his favorite track, and he sought out the singer. Pina is Austrian by birth - and studied classical guitar at the Vienna Conservatorium - but has made her home in Ireland for years. She counts U2, the Doors, the Stones, and Edie Brickell among her compositional influences....but her voice is like no other.
